Be a SUMMER CAMP COUNSELOR

at Camp William B. Snyder in Haymarket, Virginia!

 

Seeking friendly, outgoing, fun and responsible individuals age 15 and up to be program wide Camp Counselors and age 18 and up to lead our Fort, Big Dig, Ship, Nature, and Handicraft program areas. If you are age 21 and up you are eligible to receive valuable training to become a director of our popular BB and Archery ranges, or Waterfront and Pool activities.  Summer Camp Counselors attend camp July 2 – August 20, 2016.  You will work with Cub Scouts ages 6 -11, lead fun activities under the leadership of the Camp Directors and gain valuable work experience at the camp.

The 325-acre Camp William B. Snyder, located in Haymarket, Virginia, is the latest and greatest camping experience offered by the National Capital Area Council and the Boy Scouts of America. Camp Snyder, open since 2006, serves as a multi-functional camp that can meet the needs of Packs, Troops, Venturing crews, Varsity teams,

and other outside organizations looking to develop a partnership or quality outdoor experience.

 9:00am - 3:30pm Monday - Friday

Beginning Monday January 4, 2016

the Camp Snyder Scout Shop hours will be:

Monday – Friday 11:00 – 4pm

Closed 12:30 – 1:00pm for lunch

Closed Saturday and Sunday

Renting Camp Facilities 

Many Camp William B. Snyder Facilities are available to rent. Please note that Reservations for Off Season Camp Use are not final until a Facility Use Agreement has been officially completed, submitted and approved by National Capital Area Council. Other forms of communication such as email and phone calls will not be accepted as actual confirmed reservations, but may be utilized to inquire about potential availability.

 

Camp William B. Snyder Rules and Policies:

  • Check-In:  The unit leader member will check the unit in by 7:00 PM.

  • Upon Check-In the unit leader will submit a roster of campers,

  • Check-out:  is by 11:00 AM on your final day at camp. After 11:00am an additional daily fee will be assessed 

  • Vehicles may enter the campsite area to drop off / pick up gear. After dropping off gear all vehicles must be parked in the main parking lot.

  • The camp speed limit is 10mph.

  • By order of the Prince William County Fire Marshall and in accordance with our land use permit no vehicles are to remain in the campsite area.

  • Troop trailers are permitted in the camp site area and they must remain off the campsite road.

  • Vehicles are to remain on the camp roads.

  • No driving or parking on any grass.

  • Camp Quiet Hours and Lights Out is 10pm-6am.

  • In accordance with Virginia law no firewood is permitted to be brought into camp.

  • There are to be no new campfire sites established.

  • You are expected to have ample water nearby when using the campsite campfire rings.

  • All fires must be extinguished by 10pm each night. Please note: Throughout the year, a state fire ban maybe in effect. You can obtain information on the ban through the Virginia State Governor’s Office website.

  • All theme areas are off limits unless prior permission has been granted through the Camp Director only or your program has been confirmed.

  • No alcohol is permitted on camp premises.

  • No pets are permitted on camp premises.

  • You are expected to leave the shower house closest to your camp site in as good or better shape than you found it. Cleaning materials are provided.

  • All trash is to be in a tied up in garbage bags and deposited in the dumpster located behind the dining hall.

  • The Camp Ranger will inspect the facility before you check out.
